What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy


I am a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. During sessions with clients I use a variety of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques.

So thought it would be useful to explain what Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps clients to think about their preferred future and what they can do to get to the future they want. The past Is not forgotten but it is not concentrated on. This is to enable the client to work out how to move forward in a positive way and consider and make any changes that are required.

 

Sometimes it is overwhelming when faced with difficulties and challenges because there seems to be a lot of steps between where you are and where you want to be. In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy the client is encouraged to consider how the overall goal they want to achieve can be broken down into small steps. This enables the client to build a solid foundation on which you can then build further steps to be able to get to that top step. Because a solid foundation has been put down, this enables the client to have the knowledge and skills in the future when faced with other challenges or difficulties.

 

There has been research done on Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, on how the brain works and how trance affects brain waves. It is therefore based on neuroscience.

 

During a session explanation of how the brain works, how anxiety, depression and OCD is created and what we can do about it is covered. This helps the client to understand why they feel the way they do and that there are things that they can do about it and how solution focused hypnotherapy will be able to help them.

 

The first part of a session is the therapist encouraging the client to think about their preferred future and setting a goal as to what they want to or need to work on. This therefore sets the scene for the brain to know what it needs to consider during the trance section of the session. During trance the client is always in control of what they do. It is a relaxed state in which the unconscious mind will take on board suggestions it believes to be beneficial from what the therapist is saying.

 

To make the sessions more beneficial, the client is given a relaxation download to listen to every night before going to sleep and the client is asked to keep a diary of at least three positive things that happen each day. This helps the client to move towards a solution focused mind frame and helps the unconscious mind to work on the solutions for any challenges and difficulties the client has.
